It used to be so simple – if you had a period house you furnished it with classic Marquez Valdes-Scantling Packers Jersey , traditional furniture such as Chesterfields and old wooden bookcases. On the other hand, if your home was modern you’d use contemporary furniture. But now that rule book has been torn up. Increasingly traditional homes, be they from the eighteenth century with all their Georgian charm or Victorian with those beautiful period details that almost everyone is looking for, are being filled with modern furniture.
A striking glass and steel coffee table might go in a dining room which has moulded ceilings and shutters on the windows J'Mon Moore Packers Jersey , for instance. Equally you might see modern, minimalist shelves and shelving units in a traditional eighteenth century drawing room with its panelled walls. The style has been called the “hodge podge,” look by some interior designers and stylists.
You can then confuse things and challenge the viewer again but mixing traditional antiques and old ornaments with modern furniture. On these bookcases, for instance Oren Burks Packers Jersey , you could place a very traditional sculpture or on a striking contemporary plastic coffee table you could put an ancient artefact – this look would be particularly stunning.
Some people are putting old leather bound books on modern bookshelves while others are placing tradition swagged and tasselled cushions on simply designed contemporary chairs and settees. The embroidery is all the most noticeable compared with the simplicity of the modern upholstery.
You could do it the other way round – take a piece of modern sculpture and put it in a tradition book case, or put a modern painting on an oak panelled wall. Modern furniture could then be arranged around it to complete the look. In each case it’s the contrast that counts – in other words matching the old and the new to create a striking juxtaposition that will add something special to your home.

JERUSALEM, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Israel on Tuesday was removing metal detectors from the entry to Jerusalem's holy site, which is known as the Noble Sanctuary to Muslims and Temple Mount to Jews JK Scott Packers Jersey , following days of violent clashes.
Photos on Israeli media showed security guards removing the detectors overnight between Monday and Tuesday. The removal began right after the security cabinet announced its decision after consultations that continued into the early morning hours.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said the security cabinet accepted "the recommendation of all of the security bodies to incorporate security measures based on advanced technologies ('smart checks') and other measures instead of metal detectors in order to ensure the security of visitors and worshippers in the Old City and on the Temple Mount."
The statement also said that Israel's Police will reinforce its units and carry out additional actions as necessary "in order to ensure the security of visitors on the Mount."
A 100-million-shekel (about 28 million U.S. dollars) budget was allocated to implement the plan over a time frame of up to six months, the cabinet said.
The detectors, installed following a shooting attack that killed three Israeli policemen, sparked a huge protest. They are seen by the Palestinians as a violation of the status quo at the Muslim-run compound and an Israeli attempt to gain more control over the site.
