After a scoreless second period, the Rangers tied it 4:01 into the third when Mats Zuccarello slipped a pass through the middle to Miller, who was behind the defense and beat Ward with a deke to his forehand in front of the crease. But the Hurricanes restored their lead just 26 seconds later when Skinner slid a backhand under Lundqvists pads from the low right side to make it 2-1. A Rangers goal was waived off with about 7 1/2 minutes remaining in the third period because Derick Brassard made contact with Ward in the crease.
